Continuity of Learning Plan Updates:

In August, the board voted for all Madison Public School District students to begin the school year with virtual learning.  At that time, they also agreed to review the status of virtual learning monthly.  During the October 5th board meeting, the school board approved in-person instruction to begin at the ECC building.  The district plans to monitor the programs at the ECC building, and review the possibility of providing an in-person learning option for Madison Elementary School at the November board meeting.  This could result in an in-person learning option provided at Madison Elementary School after the first card marking, as originally voted upon by the board.  Madison Elementary School will continue to offer a virtual learning option as well.

In anticipation of this decision, MES administration and teacher leadership team are meeting regularly to discuss plans for safe in-person instruction.  Madison Elementary will be holding two parent information meetings next week to provide initial information to families.  These will be the first of more meetings to come as we look forward to a possible return mid-November.  We will also be sending a survey to parents asking for a commitment to in-person or virtual learning so that we can prepare for spacing and safe social distancing.

Highlights of the In-person plan:

  • In-Person instruction will run Monday/Tuesday and Thursday/Friday
  • All students will participate in virtual instruction Wednesday
  • Drop off: 8:10 AM  *No Earlier
  •  School day begins: 8:20 AM
  •  School day ends: 1:20 PM
  • Breakfast and Lunch will be served in classrooms
  • 20 minutes recess built into the day
  • Students will cohort with the same class all day
  • Parents must commit to screening their child for signs and symptoms of Covd-19
  • Students MUST wear masks to enter the school bus, to enter the school building, and all day while in school, except while eating
  • Students will receive temperature checks upon entrance to the building
